Observed expansions of plants due to climate change:
The shift of distribution boundaries is a possible response of plant species to climate change. There are already observations, where expansions of species ranges can be attributed to climate change.
A few plant species invaded the German coastal area from the West, which confirms the results of distribution models for climate change scenarios. In high mountains moving to higher elevations has been recorded due to warming.
For some species human-mediated dispersal may accelerate climate change-related range shifts. Invasion of alien species is supported by global warming, too.
