Urban Structure and Climate Change:
Why it is so difficult to implement urban transformations action? Urban Area are an important factor for the solution of the climate crisis, as they are by far the largest emitters of greenhouse gases. Climate protection in cities, however, is a difficult task as often target conflicts arise which are not easy to solve.
Recent analyses show how, for example, spatial greenhouse gas emissions and urban heat islands correlate with urban density, size and structure of cities. Integrated solutions for future sustainable cities therefore need, besides multi-criteria simulation studies and an innovative and consequent implementation of a three-dimensional urban planning also a discourse about our visions for future urban life.
